Article I - Name
a. The name of the organization shall be: Four
Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club
Article II - Purpose
a. This organization shall be nonprofit. To
bring people together to share a common interest,
to enjoy outdoor 4 wheel drive activities
and all that it involves. The club will promote
awareness in preserving and maintaining our
natural resources, focusing its efforts on
issues facing the 4 wheel drive community.
The club will be involved and participate,
whenever possible, in group or joint efforts
that support and maintain these ideas.
Article III - Membership Requirements
a. Membership is open to owners of properly
equipped 4 wheel drive vehicles, as stated
in the ‘Mandatory Vehicle Requirements’.
b. Conditions for new membership consideration:
1. “Attend four club meetings; and drive
in three qualifying ‘overnight’
club runs within twelve months. One of which
must include Fordyce Creek from Indian Springs
to Meadow Lake. Other qualified runs are ‘The
Rubicon’, ‘Barrett Lake’,
and ‘The Dusy’. Qualifying runs
will be designated as such by the Board of
Directors. Others may qualify as approved.”1
2. “Prospective members being voted
on for membership, will not be allowed to
attend the meeting at which the vote occurs.
The prospect will be notified of the results,
by mail.”2
3. “A vote for new members, will be
held once a year at the December meeting.
New members will serve a one year probationary
period, starting from the time that they are
voted in. The new probationary member must
pay the prorated membership dues, thru our
fiscal year, which begins on July 1st. After
the year, a vote will be taken to confirm
them as a permanent member. Any probationary
member not confirmed, will forfeit and and
all club dues and fees already paid.”16
4. Applicants must then be approved by a 75%
vote of attending members in good standing
c. To attend club runs, one must be invited
by a member in good standing, or attend one
club meeting and be invited by a 50% majority
of attending members in good standing.
d. All members must conduct themselves in
a responsible, respectable, and orderly fashion
at all times. Members must abide by all the
rules implied by the ‘Tread Lightly’
philosophy. Club Members are responsible for
their guests’ education and enforcement
of these attitudes. This does include pets.
If any member does not adhere to these stated
rules it will be brought to the attention
of the Board of Directors who will follow
the guidelines set forth in ‘Penalties
for Misconduct’. (see article III section
K)
e. Non-members can be prohibited from attending
club functions by a 51% majority vote of members
in good standing.
f. “Members may have their membership
revoked at any time as deemed necessary by
the Board of Directors, and supported by a
75% majority vote of members in good standing.”3
g. “Membership is currently limited
to twenty families.”4
h. Conditions of membership: “Membership/annual
dues are $85.00 payable on the fiscal year
date of July 1st. Fees include club dues of
$40.00, and membership in California 4 Wheel
Drive Association at $45.00. Prorate for both
are $7.33 per month.”5 As an individual,
they will be required to join and maintain
membership in good standing in the Blue Ribbon
Coalition. A $.25 per day fee will be applied
if membership in Blue Ribbon Coalition has
not been maintained. “To maintain good
standing, dues must be paid within thirty
days of acceptance, and every club fiscal
year thereafter. Members must attend, drive,
and participate in, two qualified club runs
(as defined in Article III Section b1), two
club events (club events are barbecues, parties,
etc.), and attend six club meetings per year.
Club runs may be substituted for events.”6
Any exceptions to these requirements are to
be submitted to the Board of Directors and
presented to the membership for consideration.
i. The minimum age for main membership shall
be twenty-one years old. There are certainly
no age requirements for family members. Each
main member-driver must hold a valid drivers
license and meet California insurance requirements.
Proof of insurance must be provided if asked.
j. There will be one vote per member/household.
The only exception being two family members
on the board, which will result in two votes.
Voting will be via a silent ballot, by members
in good standing, at a scheduled monthly meeting.
If deemed necessary by the board, a special
vote may be conducted via email, or through
a personal meeting. Every possible effort
must be made to include all eligible voting
members. Any decisions voted on in this matter,
would be applicable on the next day as applied
by the By-Laws.
k. Penalties for misconduct- All members must
adhere to the rules set forth in Article III,
section D. Failure to do so will result in
possible action by the Board of Directors.
The board will decide what constitutes minor/major
misconducts. Minor infractions will be met
with a warning. Multiple minor infractions
will result in a major penalty. Major infractions
will be met with either a suspension/expulsion
from the group as backed by the membership
in accordance with the bylaws.
l. Each new member will be given one round
club sticker, which is to be placed somewhere
visible on that member’s vehicle as
soon as appropriate. Additional stickers will
be available at an additional cost. “Smaller
square dice “roll” stickers are
to be handed out to any member whose vehicle
sustains a ‘roll’ during the course
of a club event.”7 Anyone who looses
member status shall remove club stickers from
their vehicle as soon as possible.
1. “Club memorabilia will only be sold
to club members and their families”17
m. “Honorary Members- Designation for
long time members whom over the course of
time have provided exemplarily service to
the club. This designation is meant for members
who no longer will be able to actively meet
the requirements for membership. Attendance
at club runs, events, and meetings is no longer
required. With this designation the member
will lose their right to be a voting member
of the club. Member will still be allowed
to don or purchase any and all member only
apparel, stickers, etc. Member must adhere
to all by-laws other then the above stated.

Article IV - Board of Directors
“The officers of this club shall be
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer,
and Sergeant at Arms.”9 The duties are
summarized as follows:
a. The President shall be the executive officer
and will preside at all meetings. He/she shall
have the duty of carrying out the policies
and decisions of the members. “Attend,
if possible,”10 District meetings of
the CA4WDA and make a full report to the membership.
He/she shall have the authority to make decisions
for the club. If the President cannot attend
the District meeting, an active member may
be delegated as a replacement.
b. The Vice President will assist the President
and act on his/her behalf in case of absence.
The Vice President will be responsible for
keeping track of, reporting, and recording
information on land use issues. Additionally,
the Vice President will organize and head
discussions on club runs. “That includes
appointing a ‘Trailmaster’ for
the trail.”11
c. The Secretary shall record all minutes
on the meeting, maintain the club records,
and write correspondence as necessary and
as directed. Notify the membership of meetings
and events. Provide a summary, at the very
least, of club runs and activities.
d. The Treasurer shall receive all moneys,
be responsible for the bank deposits, disburse
funds as required and authorized, cosign checks
with any other Board Member (not of the same
household). Ledger must be open and available
for inspection upon request by authorized
auditors or members in good standing. Notify
members of money owed. Provide current balance
sheet at all club meetings. “Produce
yearly income/expense report, broken down
into categories.”12
e. “The Sergeant at Arms will be responsible
for marking attendance at club meetings, as
well as maintaining the discipline of the
meetings in accordance with Roberts Rules
of Order.”13 “Add duties of equipment
manager. The Sergeant at arms shall keep inventory,
and order new items to include, but not limited
to, tshirts – sweatshirts – other
apparel, PETT toilet system and supplies,
and other club owned items. It is the Sergeant
at Arms responsibility to distribute materials
when necessary, and to collect non-disposable
items, after use.”14
Article V - Meetings
a. Membership meetings shall be held once
a month. Date, time, and place, at the discretion
of the membership. Proposed standard is the
first Monday of each month. Board meetings
will be at the call of the President. “Meetings
will be conducted under the guidelines of
Roberts Rules of Order when possible.”15
Article VI - Elections and Voting
a. Elections of Board of Directors shall be
held annually, at the August official club
meeting. Nominations will be accepted from
the floor. Any matters not covered in these
By-Laws shall be under the authority of the
Board of Directors. Any part of the By-Laws
may be changed. By-Law changes require a 75%
approval by attending members in good standing.
Article VII - Expenditures and Finance
a. All moneys received from all sources, shall
immediately be turned over to the Treasurer
for recording and deposit in the checking
or savings account of the Four Dice 4 Wheel
Drive Club.
b. All expenditures and matters concerning
club finances shall be approved by the Board
of Directors. All expenditures over $100.00
shall be approved by a majority vote of current
attending members in good standing. All expenditures
shall be made by check, with appropriate memo
notation written on the check.
c. All expenditures of club moneys are to
be dispensed only upon presentation of bills
and invoices from vendors. If no bill/invoice
is available, full and complete documentation
must be presented in support of the expenditure.
