A guide to Responsible 4 Wheeling

In the Four Dice 4 Wheel Drive Club we promote responsible 4 wheeling. We follow the Tread Lightly rules for trail etiquette as taken from the www.treadlightly.org website.

T - Travel and recreate with minimal impact
R- Respect the environment and the rights of others
E- Educate yourself, plan and prepare before you go
A- Allow for future use of the outdoors, leave it better than you found it
D- Discover the rewards of responsible recreation

Never drive off trail. Creating illegal bypasses is not an option. If you have a winch, use it to safely advance yourself on the trail. If you winch to a tree, make sure that it is large enough to handle the loads you are putting on it and always use a tree saver strap. If you can not safely advance, carefully turn around in the nearest open place without destroying vegetation.

Respect fire restrictions. They are there for a reason. When fires are permitted and safe, keep it small. Standing close to a small fire is safer than standing 10 feet away from a bon fire. CDF says hot embers can travel as far as a 1/4 mile. For current information.

If you have a fluid spill clean it up. If on the rocks take an oil soaking pad and soak up everything you can. If in the dirt take all the dirt that has been contaminated with you. Remember, leave no trace.

Four Dice 4x4 Club continues to use a portable toilet system on all club runs. There are many options too choose from with a wide range of pricing. We use the PETT toilet system but there are others that are available. www.thepett.com

We always pack out what we pack in and then some.
"Pack it in pack it out" is one of our creeds

We support the Blue Ribbon Coalition at www.sharetrails.org

We are also huge supporters of Friends of the Rubicon otherwise known as FOTR.

Our yearly project is the Clean Up of the Fordyce Creek trail in Northern California. It's usually planned for the end of the wheeling season and consists of trail maintenance, picking up trash, re-routing the trail if directed by the forest service and general trail work. We have officially adopted the trail along with the help of the Webilt four wheel drive club as well as the Sacramento Jeepers. If you are interested in helping in our efforts click the link to the Four Dice bulletin board.

And finally our club motto
KEEP IT CLEAN, KEEP IT OPEN
